Masa Japanese Cuisine in Frankfurt am Main

"Probably my favourite Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt now, definitely deserve the Michelin star. We had the 9 course Omakase menu, the ingredients are super fresh and definitely worth every penny! Service is professional and polite (just like in Japan) and the aperitif we had was also mind blowing (matcha sake aperitif). We sat at the counter before the chef’s cooking bench so we were able to observe all the detailed cooking and cutting (which itself was an art and performance!)"

"An amazing restaurant and experience. The only two points where I was not 100% satisfied with was: (i) limited interaction with the chef (esp. compared to the three other top-tier Japanese restaurants in Frankfurt); and (ii) the fact that they do not offer a pure sake pairing. I am looking forward to my next visit. P.S. point (i) has been better during my follow-up visits."

"Yesterday around lunchtime, I tried their lunch set menu, which included: * Greetings from the kitchen (2 types) * Starter 1 * Starter 2 * Soup * Sushi * Meat dish * Dessert * Sweet finale The combination was very delicate and unique. Apart from some dishes where the garnish leaves weren’t very fresh, everything was quite good."

"We came here for anniversary celebration. Seats can be reserved 2 month ago online. We took the big menu which is 168 euros pp excluding drinks. The food was super dedicated and tasty. We also order a bottle of sparkling grape juice which turned out to be a smart choice as its taste really went with the food—refreshing, not too sweet, and smooth. We sat at the bar so we could watch the master preparing food. We also liked that the staff here have great language skills."

"Masa is a one star Michelin restaurant. It isn’t the traditional Omakase where you sit down and just enjoy the sushi. This place offered you a variety of dishes in closing a really large of assortment of appetizers; a lot of them I’ve never tried before. I really like the Chutoro with caviar on top, I would have to say that’s the highlight of the appetizer. The sushi and sashimi was as competent as a chef could be. I highly recommend that you do the additional 48€ for the omi wagyu as the veal was a little tough."

"After being told by a friend about this restaurant so we gave it a try. I was a bit disappointed and I’ll point out why. The food was great. First we got the complimentary from the kitchen it was sooooo good. And then the appetiser it was good as well and nice decorated. The duck soup was refreshing. The sashimi with 4 different types of fish was brought out from the kitchen (we sat at the bar) which for me kinda weird as we have been to another place and they showed us what fish we are getting today and telling all the details about the fish. The nigiri was good prepared by the chef himself in front of us. The main course was the highlight. Veal was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very delicious. And last the dessert was delicious. After all the food was good and real good creative The service team was excellent. I love it how everyone of them know the details about the food they serve as I just randomly asked the guy once what is the decoration made of and he explained everything to me in details. (The price was 165€ per person for 9 courses) And now I’ll mention why I was a bit disappointed. 1. The sashimi was prepared in the special sauce and brought out from the kitchen. 2. Food was good but they way how they presented it was just too simple for me. There was no story or at least the explanation of the food we are getting today. It’s more like you just go there and eat I understand what Omakase is but still I want to know and see all the ingredients he prepared for me. 3. The chef wasn’t friendly at all I mean of course he has to prepare the meal but saying just Hello wouldn’t waste so much of his time. As we sat down at the bar there was no greeting words from him which I find awkward. 4. I realise that they are the one Michelin star restaurant but somehow the food was no kick maybe I had more expectation from this restaurant. There are some dishes that were soooo good and some were just simple. Well it was a nice experience being here and you can give it a try and let see how you think about it ;)"

"Great quality of food, a feast for the eyes and classy service. We had the omakase menu and absolutely loved it. I gave an extra point as they executed each dish so well. Some ingredients that I don't generally like, but here I enjoyed them so much."
